Some Off Road Go Karts and Other Machines I've played with...This site is about some of the recreational vehicles that I've owned over the years. One of the machines is a 2007 Yamaha Rhino, which does not fit in the off road go karts category, but since all the other machines could probably fit into that category, then I just chose to use the title Off Road Go Karts for this home page. Some of these machines are gutless kids' go karts. That's OK, I've got 8 young children, so that's appropriate! Some of the machines I've owned are: Yerf Dog 3203 (don't laugh!), Yerf Dog 3206 (don't laugh - again!), Twister Hammerhead 150, and a Honda Odyssey FL250. Most recently, I purchased a Joyner Sand Spider 650 buggy with an aftermarket turbo kit already installed.
All of the off road karts that I've purchased have been bought with my young children in mind, so none of these machines will be ultra high performance. These are not wheelie popping 100 mph monsters, but that doesn't mean that they can not be fun too. Out of the bunch of these off road go karts, the Honda Odyssey 250 with it's 248cc 2-stroke engine probably has the most potential for being hot rodded for more performance. That's the one that I (Dad) plan to drive. The lack of a rear suspension on the Odyssey makes it a bit of a bucking bronco to ride over rough terrain. However, in places like the sand dunes, the lack of a rear suspension is not quite as bad since the loose sand does not produce as rough a ride. UPDATE: The lack of a rear suspension on the Odyssey was beginning to be a pain in the rear - literally! The Honda FL250 would really beat you up on rough terrain. In addition, since the Odyssey was a single seat machine, it meant that I could not take as many of my children along when we were out riding. The Honda Odyssey FL250 was sold, and I bought a Joyner Sand Spider 650 for a very good price. The Sand Spider was a 2 seater and this was helpful for being able to have more passengers when we were out riding the buggies. In any case, this simple web site just shares a little of the tinkering I've done on some of these machines.
